Frequently Asked QuestionsQ. Is there a time limit or a mileage limit on when I must submit a claim? A. No. Under California law, there is no time limit or mileage restriction, so long as your problems started while your car was under warranty. Q. Does the Lemon Law apply to leases? A. Yes. California's lemon law applies to both purchases and leases. Q. Does the lemon law apply to used cars? A. Yes. California's lemon law applies to both new and used vehicles. As long as the used car was covered under warranty at the time of purchase or lease, the car is protected under California's lemon law. Q. How long does the process take? A. We will aggressively deal with your car manufacturer to ensure that your claim is handled in as short a time as possible. Because more lemon law claims are settled rather than litigated, the process can take as little as 45 days to complete. Q. How many times must I take my car in for repairs to qualify under the lemon law? A. Under the lemon law, you must have taken the car in a reasonable number of times. Generally, a recurring problem that has been subject to at least 3 or 4 repair attempts, or has caused the car to spend more than 30 days in the shop overall, is sufficient to establish a reasonable number. Q. Must the problems all be the same? A. No. If you have had many problems with your car, and have taken your car in for repairs on several occasions, your claim may satisfy California's lemon law requirements. Q.
